Report My Recent Situation to Those Who Care Me on the Forum —Also a reply to Charles
Dear Charles,
Congratulations to you for the new position first of all! I am lucky enough by chance to get caught by your this article this evening. I think that the title should have been" I got a promotion recently" instead of “ Charles canceled the trip to Australia” ! :-) Don't you think so? hehe... Well, as most other friends here do, I also think that you made a very correct and wise decision this time though it is a very difficult one. And you really deserve respect and admiration from all of us! I should learn from you! As Mary said, I, too, think that you would definitely have opportunity to make your oversea trip in future because you are such an excellent man!
I know exactly how busy you are now working in your new position since I have a very good old classmate who is also the head of the class in the No.1 senior school of the county in my hometown! He shared with me a lot of his busy teaching daily life! As a matter of fact, I have been terribly busy with my work too recently. And this is also the reason why I could not get spare time to visit our forum as frequent as before. You know, normally my secretary would prepare a cup of hot tea for me every morning, so all these days when I was at office I just took this one cup of tea for one day! I just simply forgot the thing that I needed to take more tea per day owing to my tight working schedule all these days! Terribly??? Not really! Because, actually, We are busy working for the better future, better future career and living !!! :-)
Actually, on Aug.19, my boss told me that he would assign me to take over a new department very soon and at the same time he offered me a chance to take business trip to USA in late Sept. It was really a very sudden and exciting news for me! I was shocked and very excited after hearing that. So later on, I got to think, to prepare, to plan, to arrange a great deal of things that what I should to do next step. How to smoothly transfer my current job to other colleagues and how to improve the new department as soon as possible. The responsibility of the new department is mostly work for our HK sales department, helping HK sales dealing with their increasing workload that they think they don't have enough time and people to handle with. All these things fully occupied my mind all those days and for the first time, for the sake of taking too much thinking, I experienced the sleeplessness for three nights! Falling into sleep at 2am or 3am brought me a very terrible feeling the following mornings. But fortunately, I overcame it very soon by doing some other activities in advance. I will be in the new department from Sept.1 so I will move to a new office next building accordingly. ( the old office will be still reserved for me since I also need to have meetings and take care of some important cases in the old position. In fact, I must take care of two departments in upcoming two months.) And this new position will provide me more opportunities to take business trips to overseas and big cities in China when there is an exhibition of our industry. This is really a big attraction to me, you know! :-)
I applied for the passport immediately on Aug.20 and today I already got the passport. But to my big disappointment, the travel agency told me that it is very difficult for me to obtain the visa to USA. Firstly, the left time is too pressing. Secondly, this is my first time to apply for going overseas. They told it would be easier for me to get the visa if I ever have been some other foreign countries. But I never went to other countries before! Though company already booked the air ticket for me. Today I decided to give up the chance to apply for the visa, even a try. I am told that if I am refused by the American visa interview officer this time with the "refused' stamp on my passport, it would be much more difficult for me to get it next time! So I made up my mind to give up the try this time. To tell the truth, on the other hand, I myself don't think that I am really well-prepared for this oversea trip at this moment. After all, the chance came all of a sudden, though I am very excited, don't know why I don't think I really expect to go to USA at this moment from the inside. Maybe I knew that I will have more chance in the future so I am not eager to make it now? Our company usually attend big exhibitions of our industry overseas at least twice a year. One is in Europe at the early of a year. The country is France or Germany or Spain normally, but different place each year. The other one is in Las Vagas of USA in late Sept each year. Usually our HK sale people attend these big exhibitions each year and this is the first time that our company arranged me ,a domestic employee to attend this kind of Show.
Well, I feel much easy and relaxed after deciding it. What I need to do next is to work harder than ever and help company improve our work! At the meantime, keep learning and improving English after work! The most important reason why Boss chose me to take over this new position is because that I studied English in recent years and my English is better than others and certainly I have enough working knowledge about our products and our field!:-) I got the reward of studying hard now! Though most of the time I feel very tired after work, I feel very happy at the same time. And I am really very glad to take this new challenge in my career. It provides me a new chance to learn more new knowledge!
Dear friends, so you see that I will not be able to come here as often as before, but I miss the forum all the time!!! I know that I have missed some good and helpful essays here. I would come here to have a glance from time to time when I get free time in the evening!
