A Breakthrough

I have been struggling by sending multifolds of resumes to different departments

to get an opportunity to work for the coming international conference related to my own major. The time has been drawing nearer but my progress has not been seeing more light than 20 days ago, when I was working for academic translation for a panel meeting.

The breakthrough finally came when I talked to the vice-president of our school,

who has been one of the organizers of this event. He no only nod to my application with resume, but also made my name included in the list of simultaneous interpreters for the conference at once, which was exactly what I had been making my

way through for. Further more, he asked me to take part in the doctoral exam to

become his doctoral student (which I care least).

I walked out of his office with a hard-to-hide smile on my face as well as in my

heart.

As a graduating student who is seeking a way in life and working to give her talent a play, opportunity is exactly what I need. More than anything else.

And in a world where guanxi/ relationship counts to an unimaginable extent, a girl with little relationship need to be very self-assertive and brave to make introduction through the hierarchy system.

Somewhat I have come to enjoy this process.

I learned skills and what’s more, self-inflating methods to cope with butterflies in my stomach. I have learned how to stand out and say hi to people, impress

them with my skill (which I have been working lovingly on for the past years in

college. Never wasted any time in the past six years though.). And I bet I am having fun without any bitter feeling to this hardship. Of course I got sweating before meeting them, and of course it took me a great deal of time to collect related information before stepping out. But it is so much fun and rewarding course

that anyone with adequate family background fail to experience.

A breakthough! And I am working tightly to qualify myself further as it comes to

the academic English.
