No dear Joan,
You aren't an ordinary girl. In fact there is no ordinary girl. We areall different and have our own talents and abilities. These may not bewhat the culture teaches us to long for and use, but they are ours.
You are young. It is almost spring. Girls the same age as you are don'tknow much more than you do because life hasn't experienced you enough yet.
You are a reader. Read some of the wise ones.
Love will come. But be careful how and when, and choose well. That whichlasts is what to focus your hearts upon. By that I don't mean materialobjects and riches. They don't last. Think about your character. Thinkof its strengths and weaknesses and begin to take small steps to makeyourself into the quality of person your heart longs to be. Don't be
afraid. You have capacity. And don't worry too much about what other
people think of you. Of course it isn't a good idea to try so hard to bedifferent that you do foolish things, or dress in ways that really don'tsuit the character you are trying to develop further. But still, don'tbe afraid of what others will think so that you curtail your own trueinner self.
Become aware of how much you think of yourself, and try to spend some time, as reasonable, to take care of these things do do with development, and with the
practical things of life. After that try to turn your heart to others andto understand and encourage them. Turn your heart to beauty and greatness.
I turn my heart to the greatest good I can imagine, and that helps me a lot.
Spend some time in the sun even in winter when its not too cold. Walk.
Eat properly and learn a pattern of eating that you can follow all of yourlife and that will build good bones and will maintain your bodily strengthand health, and get enough sleep, probably eight hours. Make sure you sleepin a totally darkened room, or else wear a sleep mask. If you need to, wearwax earplugs.
Recent high quality scientific investigation has shown that light at night
doesn't allow the development of melatonin in your body. Light shuts downthe melatonin production. This lack often leads to breast cancer in the West.
It seems that may be part of the different in breast cancer rates betweenEast and West, so maybe I don't even need to tell you about total darkness atnight while sleeping. :-)
Anyway dear Joan, you are still young. Don't dream and worry about love somuch. It will come in its own time. Don't force life.
I am glad you were beginning to feel better by the time you ended your post.
You have so many talents and excellent qualities. They will bloom in time.
Just keep at developing them. Don't worry about setbacks. Be determined
for the things you really want and love to do. Make sure they are reasonable.
And everybody doesn't need to be rich or famous or have an impressive job andtitle to be happy, or to live a worthwhile life.
By the way, fish fly in water. Just watch them from underneath and you'll see how well they fly in their own environment. :-) Birds fly in a somewhat different environment, --air. Fish are beautiful and graceful, and so are birds. People watch birds. People go long distances to see the beautiful small fish around
reefs. If you are a fish, then make sure you are a lithe, strong and capable fish. What's wrong with being a fish???
With warm affection, your friend Mary
