序言雅思口语，无疑是最令考生揪心的一部分；而在雅思三个部分中，尤其让人胆寒的是第二部分，即2分钟独立就某一话题发表演说。很多考生认为，这一部分中，话题不熟悉导致没话说，缺乏扩展能力导致说不多，语言功底弱导致错误多，是三个最常见的问题。笔者认为，这种现象恰如其分地反映了中国考生的一个问题，也就是第二部分考察的两个难点：independent long talk和presentation skill。前者考察考生持续使用英语的能力，后者则是英语国家人民的一项基本素质，而这恰恰是被我国传统教育忽视的。所以很多考生在平时缺乏必要口语训练的情况下，在考试中不仅要面对英语的压力，还要使用这一对他们来说非常陌生的模式来操作，低分也就在情理之中了。
那么如何解决这一棘手的问题呢？雅思第二部分的题目，虽然具体的题目千变万化，但其实还是存在一个相对稳定的题库。具体地说，大家只要做好充分的准备，在正式考试中，虽无法保证碰到完全一样的考题，但是基本可以做到考题50％甚至更多的内容处于“已准备状态”。这样，就可以充分避免无话可说、时间过剩，以及错误过多等问题了。
