When I open a newspaper I can see many vacancies in the classifieds. Basically all the positions can be divided by in language skills or non-language skills. Of course, I used to take my first glance in bold L letter columns, from left to right and top to bottom. When I get one I circle it and dot it down the contact number/s and detail/s in my note book. Again and again, scan over the whole page and turn over to the next page. (After 15 - 30mins) Whoa! I have got a lot. Okay! Now I should set off my first step to reach my first goal.
What should I do? The first ring to enquire that position I must impress the person who picks up the phone and let he/ she give me an interview. (If my chance of interview happens, what should I say in face to face interview to the boss? I think I really have to prepare it.)- 1 Step: I write down what I will say.- 2 Step: I do some practice before I go.- 3 Step: Be positive thinking and relax, when the interview begins.- 4 Step: I must type out my resume and bring any qualification to show off.- 5 Step: Don't tell him/ her how good you are - try to explain them in a clear way to impress him/ her. But it is hard!
I spent one day to write down and practice what I want to say and prepare some questions may be asked in the interview. Shake, Shake! Is it still available?S: Yes. But first of all I would like to know do you have previous work experience?M: Certainly, I have. My work experience includes 3 years as warehouse assistant and 6 years as warehouse person.S: You are so sophisticated! However can I ask you are you still working or why do you leave that positions?(If I say I was not happy to work there or I quarreled with them, therefore they fired me, I am unemployment now. I bet the lady properly won't give me any interview, she will say I will contact you later. In case, I have to tell a white lie, I am still working there. )M: I am still working.S: That means you have no longer work there, right?(Whoop! What should I say? She will know I am a liar. I can say my previous work experience is in another country or here, so I can not submit any proof.)M: No.S: You haven't told me why did you leave?M: I want to improve myself, to be more sophisticated to work in your prestige's company.S: That's good! Today Mr. Smith's timetable has already full. If you don't mind we can give you an interview on this Friday at 3:00.M: Yes, I will be there on time! Also, May I have your name, please? S: Sorry! I haven't given my name. My name is Diana.M: Thanks, Diana!S: You are welcome. (On Friday I arrived on time. When I step into the office I see Diana and say hello to her, afterward I tell her I have an interview with Mr. Smith at 3:00, thus she uses telephone to remind him I am waiting for him now. After, Diana tells me to have a seat, and ask me to fill in the application form, until 3:15 Mr. Smith tells Diana to let me come in to his office. Finally, undergoing 30mis interview, he says yes to let me sign the contract and start to work next week.)
I am very happy to receive a good work and go back home to send this good news to my family by phone. After few days, I do start my career as a warehouse assistant. What my duties now are in taking orders by phone and internet, conducting the job for the process workers and communication with my boss. Everything you don't really know what it is you will feel very tough to go for it/ them, but when you have chance to get into there, like my job application - interview; I mean work there, you will feel it is not that tough what I did think.
English is hard; but it is fashionable, we had to know it and use it everywhere, e.x. traveling, business trading and other activities. If so you just use it for the propose of working, what did you learn from primary to secondary school you already learnt and be good enough to be a good English speaker. So don't worry too much about can I speak fluent or not. Languages are for communication. Good Luck!
