南京大学出版社成立于1984年5月，是一家综合性学术出版机构，主要出版高等院校教材、教学参考书、学术专著和工具书等。
建社以来，坚持为教学科研服务的办社宗旨，坚持文化积累和文化传播的使命，坚持高层次、高质量的出书品位，努力反映所在高校学科建设的整体优势、传统优势与新兴态势，全力支持学校的学科建设和人才培养。同时也逐步形成自身在传统思想文化等方面的出版特色，为社会各界读者提供各类优秀读物，为国家的经济文化建设作出应有的贡献。在已出版的近5000种图书中，教材、学术专著占60%以上，有500余种图书获省部级以上奖励，在对外合作方面也取得了长足的发展，不少图书走进了国际图书市场。
1994年，国家教委授予南京大学出版社“教材管理工作先进集体”称号；1995年初，被国家教委评为“先进高校出版社”；1995年10月和1998年4月被国家新闻出版署两次评为“良好出版社”。
Introduction
Nanjing University Press is a comprehensive academic press established on May 1984, mainly publishing teaching materials and reference books for universities in addition to monographs and dictionaries.
Since its establishment, the press has been insisting on the aim of serving teaching and scientific research, on the mission of cultural accumulation and dissemination, on the good taste and high quality, to reflect the overall advantage, traditional advantage and new situation of its university’s disciplinary construction, and support wholly the construction and intellectual training of the whole nation’s higher education as well as its university’s. It has formed its own publishing style in teaching materials for universities, academic works, translation and introduction of overseas and traditional ideology and culture research, providing various circles with excellent books and contributing to the country’s economic and cultural construction. In nearly about 5,000 books published already, teaching materials and monographs cover over 60%, including about 500 books gaining the awards of Province and Ministry and above. Substantial progress has also been made in foreign cooperation, with many books accepted by the international market.
Nanjing University Press was awarded the title of “Advanced Group in Developing Teaching Materials” by State Education Commission in 1994, and the “Good Press” twice by the State Press Bureau in Oct. 1995 and April 1998 respectively.
