乔治制造种种困难，不让露西离开他的公司，但最终还是答应让她走，只要能找到一个够好的人代替她。一通寻找之后，露西雇佣了一个野心勃勃的年轻律师琼(艾丽西亚·维特)。琼聪明漂亮，她的眼睛显然盯在她富有的新老板身上，乔治也仿佛受到她的吸引。露西终于摆脱了乔治和他的24小时服务的工作，准备要改变自己的生活航道，和自己忠心耿耿的男朋友一起去海上旅行。但是她能离开吗？
这时乔治发现自己已经离不开露西。眼看她渐渐远离自己的生活，乔治坐不住了。他必须想明白：对一个人说“我爱你”是否会太迟？而露西在离开后面对自己，也不能逃避这同样的一个问题。两个关系紧密的人在分开之后才开始明白自己的感情，而时间正在过去，到底要不要去跟他/她说“我爱你”？
[制作]
这部片子制作完成之前，甚至在还没正式开始之前，绯闻已经传出来了。桑德拉·布洛克和休·格兰特之间到底有没有亲密关系？这两个人几年前就讨论过合作的可能。休说桑德拉“可以同时表现得迷人，有趣，聪明，可信，浪漫。我们几年前确实碰过头，商量过合作的事。”不过这件事情一直到了编剧马克·劳伦斯的剧本出来，才算终于得到机会。劳伦斯说他是心里想着桑德拉·布洛克写这个剧本的。桑德拉一直在关注他的剧本，并不时发表一些意见，改几句台词，但她并不知道原来剧本就是为她写的。
劳伦斯写完之后直奔休·格兰特，让后者出演男主角。休·格兰特这几年经过一阵低潮，又回到最具吸引力的明星行列，在连续演出了《关于一个男孩》、《BJ单身日记》、《诺丁山》等浪漫喜剧后，他的票房号召力使制片人及导演人对他趋之若鹜。劳伦斯和桑德拉则是老搭档了。他为她写过《触电之旅》(Force Of Nature)和《选美小姐》的剧本，这回劳伦斯不仅写剧本，也要亲自做导演。本片是他的导演处女作。从编剧转来做导演，劳伦斯称很有意思，并举例说，当他起身去卫生间，拍摄场里的步话机都在互相通告这一事情，让他感觉很让人兴奋，而和上百人合作也很让他觉得享受。而且尽管是第一次执导，桑德拉对他充满信任，让他工作起来舒服许多，桑德拉本人又担任影片制片人，两人可以说对整部影片的制作，大小事情，都密切配合。桑德拉对做幕后工作充满兴趣，几年前就成立了自己的制片公司参与影片的拍摄工作。她说有时候觉得做制片工作比做演员更让她高兴，因为中间有更多合作因素，合作愉快比独自研究演技更吸引人。
而对和休·格兰特一起演戏桑德拉显得十分愉快。她说：“演一出浪漫喜剧很让人害怕，具有挑战性。表现得有趣已经够难了，和另一个人之间发生化学反应也不容易。我觉得很幸运能和马克和休一起工作。我真的仰慕这两个人。”休·格兰特把握角色的微妙情感以及处理台词的能力也让桑德拉和其他同事赞叹。这两个人在一起常常笑得不可开交，工作的气氛就象戏本身一样轻松愉快。
面对绯闻两人双双否认，但说话间又互相开玩笑，甚至导演也插一脚，声称其实是他和休之间发生了感情：“他太吸引人了…别告诉我太太。”这么虚虚实实倒很为影片制造了些花絮，不过从后来的情况来看，并没有如传闻那样，男女主角深陷爱河。又或者藏得很好，外人无从得知。不过还是影片最重要，圣诞期间有这等轻松浪漫片看，观众高兴就好。
影片在纽约取景。剧组希望能从多方面表现纽约的城市建筑风貌，从上空拍了许多平时看不见的画面，十分壮观。就如桑德拉所说，“在经历过一切之后，这座城市依然强壮，让人着迷。”片中其他场景的拍摄地点也精心选择，从乔治公司的大楼到露西卧室的设计，都从表现人物和情节考虑，力图准确。
有人统计了桑德拉·布洛克和休·格兰特的票房收入情况，列出一系列数据，发现格兰特1995年以后的浪漫喜剧片收入平均有7千多万美元，桑德拉·布洛克主演的电影平均票房接近5千万，而由马克·劳伦斯编剧，桑德拉·布洛克主演的两部电影票房平均收入接近8千万，而桑德拉的代表作《二见钟情》中她的角色名字也叫露西，该片收入超过8千万，再加上别的一些数字，得出结论如下：本片票房收入预计为67,670,896美元。和《两周情人》同期上映的前有来势汹汹的魔幻巨片《魔戒2：双塔奇兵》，后有马丁·斯科西斯企图再造经典的《纽约黑帮》，桑德拉+休的魅力是否能抗得过这两股势力的联合夹击，很快我们就可以知道。

好莱坞的浪漫电影中担纲的男女主角常常不是年轻男女，他们的一线演员也多半超过三十，却益发迷人，比如休·格兰特，带着英国气息和诸位美国美女合作，相得益彰；桑德拉·布洛克从《生死时速》大红时也有三十了，在电影里一样秀美，讨人喜欢。看这样的人在银幕上，成熟美丽，谈起恋爱，一样问题重重，财富和智商统统不管用，爱还是不爱，说还是不说，总是个问题。
小时候总要等快睡觉了才发现作业没有做，这都没什么打紧，长大以后总要等某人离开了才发现自己爱他，问题就大了。怎么就弄不清自己的感情？还好是好莱坞，他们对爱情总是充满信心，不肯让相爱的人彼此错过，所以大家都知道爱情战胜一切，从不担心，只管享受银幕上的悲喜交加。看完了，把身边人的手握紧些。
