1978年至今，中国科学技术大学化学系任教，现为教授、博士生导师
期间：
1983-1985年，美国斯坦福大学访问学者，从事不对称合成研究
1985-1986年，美国华盛顿州立大学博士后，大环内酯新药的合成研究
1996.11-1998.2，美国佛罗里达州立大学访问教授，抗菌和抗癌新药合成研究
2001.9-2002.2，美国加州太平洋医学中心研究所，抗癌新药合成研究
主要研究方向
1 不对称合成，2 新药合成研究
目前在研的课题有:
1．野菊花中抗炎活性成分的分离、鉴别、结构修饰和活性评价（973前期，20万）
2．不对称频哪醇偶联反应研究（国家自然科学基金项目，23万）
