The Library Service comprises the Brynmor Jones Library and the Map Room on the Hull campus, together with the Keith Donaldson Library at the Scarborough campus. The Library Service is committed to the provision of a first class service to all students and staff - facilitating access to traditional and digital resources for learning, teaching and research.
Library buildings are accessible for up to 80 hours per week during semester. Our flexible access arrangements resulted in 800,000 visits and 600,000 loans last year. More information about the use, access and membership of the Library Service can be found in Using Our Libraries.
Our printed collections number some one million volumes. These collections are managed and reviewed to reflect the needs, profiles and interests of our users. The acquisition of over 12,700 printed volumes in 2001/02 reflects our commitment to the development of our collections. Library Catalogues are accessible via dedicated terminals on site or via the internet.
We have extended the scope of our collections to encompass the best in digital library resources. Our digital collections now include more than 50 indexing, abstracting and full text databases, 5,000 electronic journals and the management of access to regional and national catalogues and subject gateways.
The Library Service was awarded the Charter Mark in 1998 and 2001.
