Deuter puts his entire palette of musical abilities on display on Koyasan. This CD incorporates a global mixture of instruments, including the Chinese erhu, Japanese shakuhachi flute, East Indian tamboura and Tibetan bowls, as well as shimmering keyboard textures. Deuter takes the listener on a serene, mystical voyage through a variety of peaceful soundscapes with a relaxed and soothing pace. The music is soothing, contemplative and intimate.
Born in 1945 in postwar Germany, Deuter studied the flute, taught himself guitar and just about every instrument he could get his hands on, though it wasn’t until after a near-fatal car crash in his early twenties that he decided to pursue a career in music. Over the years, Deuter has continued learn and master a vast array of instruments, including the drums, the shakuhachi flute, the koto, sitar, Tibetan singing bowls, santoor, bhuzuki, piano and keyboard. He was recorded and released over 60 albums and has sold too many records to count. thing that is important for me is that I love dancing on the edge of the unknown; to play around and open doors I haven't walked through before, says Deuter. It is this very outlook that has kept him at the forefront of musical evolution for over 35 years.
高野山简介：
高野山（Koyasan）位于日本的关西地区，在大阪的南面，是日本佛教徒心中的圣地。此地从前是女人禁地，所有女性均须在此止步，为此在山前还专门修建了一座“女人堂”，古时所有女性信徒只准在此遥礼高野。直到十九世纪才由当时的天皇解禁。在山脚下的小镇附近散布着约二十多所小寺庙，各有其历史渊源和特色。
高野山（Koyasan）并不大，其作为佛教旅游胜地的主要景点有：
奥之院（Okunoin）：弘法大师肉身所在，在灯笼庙后的小房子内，所有人都只能在外面上香礼拜，据说感应很强；
奥之院外的坟场：超过一公里长，埋葬了很多日本的古今历史名人将相，如织田信长等，令人感触的是，日本古时权震全国的大人物到死时也只能希望可以凭近着弘法大师一点儿以求救度而已，是念无常的好地方；
金刚峰寺：现为日本真言宗总部，可参观；
坛上伽蓝：古时高野山的中心，有两塔和供著不同尊的院子，但大多因为是古物而不能入内；
灵宝馆（博物馆）：存放有不少珍贵的法宝；
南院：供奉着有名的浪切不动尊。

Deuter，全名 Chaitanya Deuter，出生在德国的一个名叫Falkenhagen的小镇上，曾学习过长笛，后来自学了吉他，但一直没有发展自己的音乐事业。然而，1970年的一次几乎致命的车祸让他鼓起信心去追求自己的梦想。他的首张专辑于1971年由Kuckuck公司发行。这么多年来，Deuter 对于精神领域探索带他走遍了全世界，最多到访的是印度，他曾居住在阿什拉姆乡间的供静养之地研究印度音乐，并录制了多张专集。在80年代中期，他移居美国，最终定居在新墨西哥州的首府——圣菲。
