【剧情简介】：
独眼龙政宗是NHK于1987年制播的大河剧，播出期间是1987年1月4日 - 12月13日，全50回。原作是山冈庄八，剧本是詹姆斯三木，音乐是池边晋一郎，主演是渡边谦，旁白是葛西圣二。
故事描写以自己才能智慧而打下仙台藩62万石基础的奥州地区战国武将──伊达政宗的一生。
本剧平均收视率39.7％は，在历代大河剧排行榜首；最高收视率47.8％，排在『武田信玄』之后。剧中梵天丸（政宗的幼名）对其师虎哉宗乙说「梵天丸也要变成这样」的台词成为当时的流行语。
到了2003年，NHK为纪念电视开播五十週年而举办「想再看一次的节目」观众票选，本剧得到综合部门第九名、大河剧部门第一名。在2004年1月3日・4日于综合频道で、同年7月26日～30日在卫星第二频道重播总集编。大河剧在片头前进行史实解说的手法，于本作首次使用。
