Pink City-Jaipur
Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan State in India, is an ancient city, well-known as the “Pink city”.Why do we call it pink? Here is the story. For welcoming his distinguished guest, the Prince of Wales in 1905, Jaipur Singh, king of Rajasthan at that time, needed a fresh coat for his city. However the contractor had no choice but painted pink color on the walls. Since than, the city was named as “Pink City”, which also associated with the hospitality in Rajasthan. Now I would like to introduce you three famous scenic spots in Jaipur. The first place is Hawa Mahal, also called as “Wind Palace”, built in 1747. There are more than 900 ornate windows set in this rose-colored five-floor architecture, which make it so unique. When you go inside, you would feel fresh breeze going through the windows. And the ladies who stayed inside the Palace could view the scenery outside without being seen. The second place is City Palace, which is the official residence of the royal family. The house where the royal lives now is not open to the tourists while the museum house is there to the public. There are a lot of rare collections in it, such as costumes, weapons, textile and so on. Especially there is a pair of pure silver teapots, which is the largest silver object in the world and as far as know that it was ever used to contain the holy water. The last place I am going to mention is the Amber Fort, apparently the color inside is amber. Tourists can reach there by riding on the elephant or on foot. Inside, there are many independent buildings. The most famous one is Mirror Palace. So many small mirrors are mounted on the walls and ceilings. With the reflection of sunshine, the whole building becomes so resplendent.Besides these three mentioned places, you can also visit some other places if time allows. By the way, you can also experience the feelings of walking along the street on bare feet, witness so many animals strolling in the streets among the trucks, buses and bicycles, which are totally different in China. And, of course, you could take this opportunity to mini-immerse yourselves more in the Indian culture and tradition if you are really interested. That’s all. And have a good time in India!
