I am not sure about the exact date when I have found myself sort of fanatically enraptured by her,and love her to the extent that I would feel a strong sense of guilt if I don’t listen to her or read her for a single day.She is a pretty young lady with curvaceous figure and melodious voices ,tending to allure those sentimental and sensible industrious persons,especially younger ones.I confess I am unconciously succumbed to her charm,unable to live without her ,just as a tiny fish would lose its vigor once leaving the water on which it depends to make a living.
English is a beautiful language with a power to accurately record virtually all the comings and goings of this world ,and at the same time she is equably capable of,with delicate touches, probing into the mysterious interior world of human souls ,as my mother tongue---Chinese does.
Each day after a whole day of dreary or exhaustic work,I would sit quietly beside my desk,articulating the impressive excerpts from the Selected Works of English Literature.I have been all along gaining great pleasure from reading those pieces of work..While I am enjoying the pleasing and well-pronounced flow of English words uttered ,I will always learn something from those masterpieces of deep insight on the cultivation of moral standards of man,on the history and developments of human society.
Another great attraction of English for me is its sounds,varying from English music to English radio.English is in essence a language with soft pronunciation and numerous syllables,so the English songs are generally more pleasant to the ear than the songs in other languages(this is my personal perspective).English pop music has occupied the lion share of the global market for music productions.Regardless of some garbage forms of music it by-produces (I take exception to rap music), English pop reaches the highest ground of music performances.Michael Jackson,Enya,WHAM! are the names forever remembered by me.As for English radio,it furnishes us with the first -hand original materials about the life,politics and other aspects of the societies of the English--spoken countries.I dislike translated things,which are usually regarded as the other side of Persian carpets.I like the original that are not altered and are without any kind of embellishments.Recent days I have been listening to the special coverage about the terrorist attack on the united states on VOA.Sometimes I was moved by the accounts of the great trauma the attack has brought to the ordinary Americans,including Arabian American people,who have been constantly subject to racial hatred and assaults of retaliation.The English radio offers us broader and clearer horizons for viewing the happenings in those societies.
My affection towards English is deep—rooted and unshakeable.She is my first lover,and I will love her with all my passion.Enjoy her,with no regrets left behind.
