Samsung Taiwan Revenues to Grow 30 Percent in 2006
Samsung Electronics expects its Taiwan revenues to grow 30 percent on-year to hit U.S. $260 million in 2006, with handsets, IT products and home appliances to contribute 50 percent, 30 percent and 20 percent, respectively, to its total income, said YS Jeon, president of Samsung Taiwan.
To sustain its projected growth, Samsung’s promotion expenditure for the Taiwan market will be increased by 50 percent on-year to $30 million in 2006, Jeon noted.
Samsung plans to introduce as many as 20 to 30 handsets for the Taiwan market this year, aiming to boost its ranking in the local market from the current fourth position to third place by year-end 2006 and push up its market share from 6.2 percent to 13 percent, Jeon stated.
Samsung expects its global handset shipments to expand 11.5 percent on-year to a total of 115 million units in 2006, accounting for 15 percent of the global market, Jeon said, citing an internal estimate by the company.
