内容简介《综合英语教程5》采用“专题研究”的方式编写，书中有四个主题，每一个主题分为三个单元，引导学生对某一个专题开展一定深度的探索。《综合英语教程5》是专门为我国高等院校英语专业高年级语言综合训练课编写的教材，编写理念是鼓励学生将语言学习与学科知识、人文知识和文化知识的学习结合起来，提高学生处理学术语言和书面语言的能力。 该教材的第一版于2002年出版，4年中全国有近两百所院校的学生将其作为三、四年级综合语言课的教材，编者所执教的学校也进行了三轮试验，这些试验为第二版修订打下了良好的基础。
作者简介男、教授、博士生导师。现任华东师范大学外国语言应用语言学研究中心主任、《国外外语教学》杂志编辑部主编。1982 年毕业于中国矿业大学外语系， 获文学学士学位；1988年毕业于上海外国语大学英语系， 获文学硕士学位；1992年–1993年赴新西兰 University of Canterbury 进修学习，主要攻读英语口语和口语俗语的分析研究；2000年–2002年赴美国University of Pennsylvania 教育学院学习、研究， 主要研究方向为第二语言习得。
主要研究领域与成果
第二语言习得研究和外语教育， 担任国家“九五”重点教材建设项目《综合英语教程》主编和编写工作， 并获得2002年全国优秀教材一等奖； 有多篇论文发表于中国和美国的各种专业杂志上。
英语口语和口语俗语研究， 为英语系研究生开设现代英语口语分析课程； 有多篇论文发表于各种杂志刊物上； 担任上海市教育考试院高中英语口语考试设计和评分顾问。
翻译和同声传译， 多次担任政府大型国际会议的主要翻译和同传译员。
编辑推荐修订后的教材仍然保留了第一版的基本材料和练习内容，同时改正了第一版中的错误，增加了训练内容，补充了大量的文化和语言注释，添加了词语学习板块，编者希望通过这些改动增添学生的学习兴趣、提高他们的学习效果。 《综合英语教程5》作为学生英语学习参考用书。
