My dear forum guys,
I’ve been excited and restless ever since I got to know that our Tim is visiting Beijing. Dragonfly and I also felt a bit nervous because we fear to speak English with a native English speaker. I should not have to feel fear though.
The day before we actually meet, we talked a few words on the phone. I stammered
a little when I picked up the receiver because I did not expect that Tim would
call me since I had kept contact only with Linda, a very pretty lovely girl. I told David and Pan about my stammer and just hope I would behave better on the occasion.
Finally the moment came. What a coincidence that yesterday, October 30th , is a
Chinese traditional Double 9th Festival. That is the 9th day of the 9th month according to the Chinese lunar calendar. It is for elders’ good health and longevity. And it is also the eve of Halloween which is for kids.
Even after we sat down face to face, still I was amazed about the meeting. Thank
goodness, without internet such a meeting can never happen. And we should thank
David, the founder of the forum in particular, without this forum we would never know each other.
The topics were wide and we just jump from one to another. We talked about our forum, our impressive forum friends; air pollution in China; the famous Beijing cough. We talked about the horror film director and his famous film West by Northwest (I don’t know how to spell his name); we also talked about the charming of
English language. I was surprised that quite a few very good writers on our forum are self-taught English learners. Some have never received college education;
some are not in English major. But one thing is in common, we are all English lovers.
It is really an unbelievable and unforgettable meeting indeed!
I remember once Sally said she was the only one on our forum who met Tim in person. Now I guess I can boldly say that I am the third one! Dove is probably the second I guess. :)
