MICHAEL BALFOUR fell in love with classic wristwatches when he was given a Rolex for his tenth birthday. Since then, he has had a special interest in all aspects of horology. He has published several books, the most recent of which explored man's need, from pre-historic times, to measure the advance of time. The Classic Watch, in a sense, brings that story up-to-date, with the help of the author's detailed first-hand knowledge of contemporary Swiss watchmakers,their villages and their valleys.
