Why China?
With the globalization of markets, stiffer competition, new technologies and demanding customers, supply chain management has become the rallying cry of business leaders from around the globe. Why? Because effective supply chain management lets you deliver products and services cheaper, faster, and better. In today' s marketplace, you must have that competitive edge to survive and grow.
China's supply and logistics market is arguably the largest market in the world. Translated into any language, this means tremendous opportunity for your company.
With accession to the WTO, China's business with the world will expand dramatically. China' s foreign trade grew by 16% just in the January-February, 2001 timeframe. Imports and exports from the US and European Union are up considerably, as are those from other Southeast Asian nations.
China has one of the largest Internet and e-commerce markets in the world. As of December 31, 2000, there were 22.5 million internet users in China. Expenditures in the IT and e-commerce space is expected to reach 15 billion dollars by the end of 2002. With this growth in e-commerce comes a huge opportunity. Foreign logistics firms are already establishing factories and subsidiaries in China, grabbing market share.
