The Hexi New Town is relatively separated from the down town area of Nanjing bythe Qing-huai river. Most customs of local commercial facilities are residents living in-side the new town. Land uses within a buffer of 1 000 m radius from points of interestsare extracted and then overlaid with reclassified accessibility map as well as local inte-gration value map to compare their relationships.
As shown in Fig. 7(a), commercial and public service lands are of a highly concen-trated distribution within a 5 min walking range surrounded by residential lands withboth type of lands being next to each other. As these commercial lands are expending tothe east along the Cao-chang-men Avenue, it's corresponding to the distribution shownon the accessibility map. None significant concentration is seen along the North Jiang-dong road where is within the 3-step depth affection range.
Fig. 7(b) shows commercial and public services as well as residential lands are fairlywell-distributed around the cross of Shui-xi-men Avenue and the Hu-xi Street. The twotypes of lands are in an evenly mixed situation. No significant clustering can be identi-fied in the area. This non-concentrated distribution shows it's not of the same class ofcommercial center as the New City Plaza area. Majority of consumers to this area arefrom a more localized range of space.
