Dear and welcome new friends,
PLEASE READ THE OTHER POST "A LESSON FOR NEWCOMERS," BEFORE YOU WRITE TO MEFOR HELP. THANKS! :-)
This is a forum to help you to learn good English. It is not a chat group. There is a BIG DIFFERENCE between standard English and chat group English. Most people on this forum are here to learn good standard English. Many are professionals or students. If you insist on writing chat group English here you defeat our purpose. You also may mislead some people here about what is acceptable standard English.
Chat groups are good for swift conversations on the internet. On a chat group you don't need to use any capital letters. You don't need to use punctuation. You may use shortened forms of English words such as "wanna". You may use run-on sentences. You don't need to use paragraphing. The main reason for a chat group is to talk swiftly together, often in real time. Chat groups are important. But this is not a chat group.
This is an English forum. The purpose of this forum is to help all of you to learn correct English while enjoying yourself. Chat group English is not proper here. If you try to pass your CET-4 or any other examination using chat group English you will FAIL YOUR EXAM. If you write business letters to English speakers using chat group English they will NOT respect you. When you write chat group English in the wrong places you DO NOT sound professional. You do not appear to be well-educated.
It is alright to write chat group English when you first arrive here. After that, when Panpanpan or Jenny or David, or others of us here advises you how to begin to write educated standard English, please immediately follow the advice.
English is my native language. I write to you from Canada and take great care how I express myself, in order to help those who are trying so hard to learn correct English. It takes me hours of work to do what I do here. So I ask you to please spend the small effort it takes to leave chat group English and begin to write correct English in this forum.
Before you ask for help please do this,
Examine this post carefully and while you read,
* observe how commas are placed* observe how periods are placed* observe how paragraphs are separated * observe how capital letters are used * look for which kinds of words have capital letters. Hint: They are all the special names of something or somebody.
Begin to do these thing immediately and make them your habit. When I see new people asking for my help and already trying, then I am eager to help them. :-)
You need to do this to help me. It is becoming too hard for me to say the same few basic things, over and over, every day, to each new person.
Begin immediately to do these things. Let me see you trying to do them already in the post you send to ask for my help. Then I will know you really want to learn, because this is the kind of help I give. :-) I don't think it will be too hard for any of you to do. Use this post to teach yourself how to do these things.
I hope you will enjoy yourself in this friendly forum where we talk together as friends, and nobody laughs at anybody else. :-)
Thank you for reading and accepting this in the friendly and helpful spirit it is given. Remember: follow the easy guidance that Panpanpan gave here again recently.
Warmly, Mary, writing from Canada
