Dear All my forum friends!
I am really too happy today since I got the information this morning that I have successfully passed the English listening and speaking examinations! Right now I just can't help telling you, my dear forum friends, who care me so much to share my happiness, to share the very happy moments!
As some friends may already know that I graduated from Secretary major of Chinese department around ten years ago. I came to my current city right after my graduation. I ever worked as a secretary of managers and assistant of big boss. But right now I am in charge of a big production planning department in a Hongkong- funded manufacture. I have been working for this position more than six years. About three years ago, I began taking part in the self-taught course and examinations after a one-week business trip to Hongkong. Every of my surrounding friends knew that I did devote a lot into my work at that time. Simply speaking, my only task is work at that time. Working issues could often appear in my dreams at night in some difficult times. I did not take any study and did not know that I should take some study after work. So as most people did at that time, I just watched TV programs or did some other common activities after my working hours. Time flied away with no print...
Today I think I must admit that I am lucky that three years ago I took action to continue study by my self. Since I was quite interested in English then I chose English major as a start. I bought the books of all subjects and went to our local Radio and TV university to take evening class from time to time. I forgot how many times that I did not have time to have dinner for rushing to class after work. I forgot how many nights that I studied over midnight to read through the books before the exams :-) I forgot how many Sundays that I had to stay at home to study alone and refused the invitations from friends for going outside.... No pains, no gains! And fortunately, I could almost pass the subject every time when I take the exam except English reading (II). You may think I really had good luck! :-) But you don't know that I caught every spare minute to review my notebooks during my working time; You don't know that sometimes I even brought my notebooks on hands when going to toilet..
The last two subjects of this major are listening and speaking. The students who should pass all other subjects can have the qualification to take these last two subjects examinations. In recent years, I also took twice English conversational course in the evening in an English training center of my city and once Business English course in another English training school. All teachers there are foreigners ,so I got chance to practise and improve my oral English . And truly this did help me a lot and so the speaking exam was just a piece of cake in my eyes.:-) I was not worried about my oral English at all before examination but terribly worried about my listening ability due to lack of enough practice.
In March, I registered the last two examinations which were scheduled on May 23 through Internet since I already finished all other subjects last year. In April, we got a letter from a training center in GZ that invited me to take a training there for 10 days before the examinations. It is said that this training center has been established more than 10 years and is a very successfully in its field. Actually I knew that some time ago through the advertisements on website but I paid no attention to it at all. I thought how come I had time to take this kind of training as a very busy manager who has to fight with work at every working day. But my husband suggested me to take it and my boss supported me to take it too after I told them this fact--I am not sure whether I can pass it or not since I never have the experience of taking this kind of exam and know nothing about it styles. But I am very sure that I can pass it if I can take the training course! :-) Then on April 12 I posted the tuition fee to the training center after getting my salary. Then I took the training course from May 13 to May 22 as some of you know and took the exams on May 23 at Gugangdong university of Foreign Studies.
Now two weeks past, today, I got the information that I passed both of them-- I got the score of 73 in listening exam and got the score of 84 in the speaking exam. My heart was overjoyed at the moment of hearing this good news! I cannot wait a second to tell my family and my dear friends who cared me so much. I called my parents who are away but care me and love me so deeply! I cannot wait to wirte down and share with you all , my dear forum friends. I still have a lot to say about my experience , my happiness and the bitterness during the course of self-taught learning... Sorry, Time is up today. This is absoultely not a good-oragnized articles. Sorry for that. I am now having no time to write it more carefully and rereadt it .
Last but not least, I want to thank my dear son, who had accompanied me a lot when I was studying hard at home. He gave me much fun and joy which relaxed me and let me have a balanced mood to work hard. I thank my husband who has been always supporting me all the way ..... And I still want to further my study in English major... I will tell more about this next time.
